USS Canberra (LCS 30) – Freedom of Entry Parade

On Sunday 23rd July 2023, the USS Canberra crew will exercise their right to Freedom of Entry to the city of Canberra and they’ll be accompanied by crew members of HMAS Canberra & Navy Band.

The USS Canberra LCS 30 will be the second U.S. Navy ship to bear the namesake of Canberra after the HMAS Canberra sunk during the Battle of the Savo Island in 1942. These combat ships are the only warships named after a foreign capital city.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see American and Australian Navy personnel parade through our streets!

The best vantage points will be along London Circuit, with the official Challenge taking place near Civic Square. Witness the parade with all its pomp and ceremony and show your support for USS Canberra and its crew.

Please be advised that there will be road closures on Northbourne Avenue, London Circuit and Constitution Avenue for the parade. There may be minor disruption to traffic and buses.

When: 23 July 2023, 10.00am

Where: The parade will march down Northbourne Avenue (from Veteran’s Park), and along London Circuit, with the official Challenge taking place near Civic Square. The parade will fall out on Constitution Avenue outside the National Convention Centre.

Head to King O’Malley’s at 131 City Walk after the parade to continue flying the Stars & Stripes and to celebrate the strong bond Australians share with Americans.

For all that serve/have served, THANK YOU for your service!
