Science in the Pub: Apollo 11 | Quarantine

The AAACBR was honored to host filmmaker Stephen Slater for his final Australian event: Science in the pub: Apollo 11 – Quarantine, where he discussed the fascinating implications of Apollo 11’s quarantine procedures. Stephen shared exclusive insights from his short film, “Apollo 11: Quarantine,” showcasing never-before-seen footage of astronauts entering quarantine upon their return to Earth.

Joined by Astrophysicist Dr. Brad Tucker and Cosmologist Dr. Emma Tucker, the evening delved deep into the complexities of managing potential alien contamination. Together, they explored profound questions about humanity’s place in the cosmos and our preparedness to encounter the unknown. We were left with questions like: Are we alone in the universe? What are the implications of interstellar contamination?

Attendees contributed to an engaging experience, and the little ones enjoyed astronaut-themed crafts. The AAACBR extends our utmost gratitude to everyone who made this event a success, including our friends Peter and Dorothy of King O’Malley’s and Stephen Slater for the riveting experience and discussion!
