Celebrate Thanksgiving in Canberra

The Australian American Association – Canberra Division is pleased to invite you to experience a traditional Thanksgiving Feast…with an Australian twist. Join us at the Canberra Rex Hotel for a taste of what many Americans at this time of year get nostalgic for, wherever they are in the world.

Why the Canberra Rex Hotel? In 1966, the 1st U.S President to visit Australia, President Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson stayed there (their room is still referred to as the Presidential Suite). The Rex rooftop bar also has a unique view of the Australian-American Memorial, something that we hold very dear as our founding AAA members drove the project to make it happen and Queen Elizabeth IIthe first British monarch to set foot on Australian soil, unveiled it in 1954 while on her first royal tour to Australia. The whole family, friends and colleagues are invited to enjoy American inspired dishes enhanced with Aussie ingredients while learning about America’s biggest holiday (yes, it’s bigger than Christmas!). Find out about American traditions, have the opportunity to share what fills you with gratitude and watch the kiddies create festive Thanksgiving crafts.

The buffet will include traditional favourites like Turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potato, pumpkin pie…and more!
